Domestic abuse during pregnancy **TRIGGER WARNING**

**TRIGGER WARNING**

Domestic abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or financial. It is often a combination of these. Some women may find that pregnancy is a trigger for domestic abuse, and it may get worse during or after the birth of the child. Domestic abuse during a pregnancy may put a woman and her unborn child in danger as it increases the chances of miscarriage, injury, premature birth or death of the baby. It can also lead to infection, emotional stress and anxiety which can affect the development of the baby.

If you are getting abused, then you must seek help. You can speak in confidence to your GP, midwife or health visitor.
